Douglas Dean has lived in Rome for ten years, working in theatre, film, television and voiceover. He played a leading role in Terry Gilliam's The Wholly Family, which won 'Best Short' at the 2011 European Film Awards, and has also appeared in Barabbas (RAI), Che Dio Ci Aiuti (RAI), Amanda Knox-Murder on Trial in Italy (Lifetime) andRome (HBO/BBC). Theatre-wise he counts himself fortunate to have played many of Shakespeare's most iconic characters including Richard III, Iago, Bottom, Malvolio, Shylock, Benedick and Leontes. His extensive voiceover credits include several award-winning documentariesas well as the cult children's series Taco & Paco. Douglas' acting work for English Theatre of Rome includes Fifteen SecondsAddress UnknownThe Birthday Party and Loveplay, which he also directed. Away from his own work as an actor Douglas supplements his income as an acting teacher and occasional broadcaster, specialising in soccer commentary.
